Among a school known for its basketball championships, it's only fitting the biggest story of the year came from its men's basketball program.
But for once, it wasn't on-the-court events that took the nation by storm, rather, it was a pair of life-threatening illnesses that proved the Huskies - the defending national champions, the larger-than-life figures whom little kids look up to and people across the country fell in love with - were just as fallible as anyone else.
Rashad Anderson and A.J. Price, two players expected to make big contributions to a team trying to put its foundations back together after the loss of stars Ben Gordon and Emeka Okafor, were diagnosed with separate conditions that prevented either of them from playing basketball for a lengthy amount of time.
